What inspired you to write the Little Honker series?

As I mentioned in the previous blog, a third grader at Indian Ridge Elementary school gave me the idea that Little Honker should start his own band. When kids asked me what he was going to do next, I turned the question to them. Kids have the best ideas.

The problem with this book is that I had to find a new illustrator because my first company took my illustrator with them when they closed and left me out in the cold and out money. I searched for a long time and again I lost money because a man said he could do it and then didn't produce what I asked yet charged me for what he did. I finally found Laurie Scoggins in Colorado and together we sort of figured things out.
